The design goals of this portfolio involve transitioning the entire rental portfolio to highly efficient electrified heating solutions, removing gas connections, applying solar across the portfolio where possible and having excess electrical capacity for EV charging solutions. Super insulated envelopes are being considered for houses that are coming up on building envelope renovations to further reduce EUI.
The design phase of this project took nearly a year and has entered into the implementation phase. Its purpose is to de-risk all aspects of the transition process to better educate other owners, tenants and to gather invaluable field experience.
The conversions will reduce point source emissions by approximately 250,000 pounds of CO2 annually, increase occupant comfort, safety and will get cleaner each year the grid adds more renewable energy to its mix.
